Opening Ceremony of the Second Training Delegation of China Ministry of Land and Resources in the University of Sydney

The Ministry of Land and Resources of the PRC (MLR) mining resources training program sponsored by Tianda Group was kicked off in the University of Sydney, Australia. Mr. Xu Shao-shi, the Chief of MLR, Dr. Michael Spence, the Principal of the University of Sydney and Mr. Alan Fang, the Chairman of Tianda Group attended the opening ceremony.

This training delegation is the second induction upon "the agreement on the cooperation in training program and demonstration projects" signed between MLR and Tianda Group. 26 government officials and experts from MLR and China Geological Survey will participate in this 15-day training induction. Training program includes Australian policies, culture and law introduction, environmental planning and assessment, mining approval procedures, evaluation and approval procedures on sustainable projects, ownership over offshore and onshore petroleum and natural gas, environmental law execution and disputes resolution, mining working environment condition, biological diversity management of mining projects, land and environmental court prevention and adaptability management, and more.

In the speech of Dr. Michael Spence, the Principal of the University of Sydney, he offered the warmest welcome to Mr. Xu's arrival. The University of Sydney will do the best and look forward to further technology cooperation with MRI.

Mr. Xu expressed his blessings over the smooth kick-off of the training and his gratitude towards the efforts contributed by Tianda Group and the University of Sydney. Mr. Xu stressed that China is now in the rapid development of industrialization, urbanization and agricultural modernization at the same time, which brings a pressing need to solve the problem of strengthening the ability of resources protection, and actively participate international mining resources exploration collaboration and enhance the cooperation with other leading mining countries. Nevertheless, among modernizations, more important is the modernization of human resources. This training induction will further deepen the Sino-Australian collaboration in the realm of mining resources and offer a new way and channel to nurture talents in the aspect of land resources technology and management. Mr. Xu hopes trainees treasure such learning opportunities, and try to understand and master the new technologies, new theories, new methods and new equipment of mining exploration in Australia, and learn the advanced theories and experiences of mining economy and mining environment management, etc, in order to realize a breakthrough in mining exploration, and contribute to the sustainable development of China's economy and society by providing resources protection.

“The agreement on the cooperation in training program and demonstration projects" between MLR and Tianda Group was signed in 2010, aiming to understand the technology and experience of land resources management and mining environmental management in Australia, enhance the level of land resources management and the caliber of MLR officials, so as to push forward the sustainable development of land resources. The first training induction was conducted in 2011. According to the agreement, Tianda Group will continue to subsidize 500 MLR officials and experts to attend training in the areas of land resources management, protection and reasonable usage, mining environmental management and safety, and more in the coming 10 years.
